The Locarno Film Festival is a community for creating relevant imaginaries of our times. Since its foundation in 1946, the Locarno Film Festival, one of the eight Swiss Top Events and one of the most relevant film festivals worldwide, has emerged as a festival of discovery, a characteristic that over the years has allowed young talents to take their first steps in the audiovisual landscape and then, in many cases, to write the history of cinema, such as Spike Lee and BI Gian. The attention paid to young generations is also reflected in the educational offering that makes the Locarno Film Festival a true platform for cultural mediation, a place where to experiment and investigate on how the audiovisual fruition will be in the future. Every August, for eleven days the Swiss-Italian town of Locarno, right in the heart of Europe, becomes the world capital of auteur cinema.

Throughout the year the Locarno Film Festival also offers a series of online activities and initiatives to engage the audience and offer quality content. The audience is the soul of the Festival: thousands of film fans and industry professionals meet here every summer to share their thirst for new discoveries and a passion for cinema in all its diversity. In Locarno they find a quality program, rich, eclectic, surprising, and where emerging talent rubs shoulders with prestigious guests. The famous evenings on the biggest screen in Europe, Piazza Grande, whose magical setting can accommodate up to 8,000 filmgoers every night is the example of the uniqueness of the collective experience that features Locarno. But that's not all: the Locarno Film Festival offers a 360-degree experience, because it takes place in one of the most touristic cities of Switzerland, surrounded by lake and mountains, with a variety of activities to do between screenings.
